Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuno Mendes was the goal of abusive and racist feedback on social media after a French league sport.
The membership condemned the abuse and expressed its “full help” Sunday for the Portugal left-back, who was focused following PSG’s 3-1 win in opposition to Brest on Saturday.
Mendes, who’s Black, shared on his Instagram account a racist message he obtained.
Throughout the match, Mendes introduced down Ludovic Ajorque within the field for a penalty that Romain Del Castillo transformed to provide Brest the lead.
“Paris Saint-Germain does not tolerate racism, antisemitism or every other type of discrimination,” the membership mentioned. “The racial insults directed at Nuno Mendes are completely unacceptable … we’re working with the related authorities and associations to make sure these accountable are held accountable for his or her actions.”
Portuguese Soccer Federation president Fernando Gomes has expressed his solidarity.
